This is the Buru. I created this cryptid creature / monster art for Fairytales and Myths.
The Buru is a cryptid creature that features in myths of the Apatani people of India.
Again, this creature art was also done early on during the project. Looking back at it now, I was beginning to develop the art style with the background but the creature itself was still too realistic rather than stylized. For years, most of my work consisted of only photorealistic digital art created for newspapers, so it’s been a transition for me trying to find my style while creating children’s books.
