This is the Aswang. I created this cryptid creature / monster art for Fairytales and Myths.
The Aswang is the Philippines’ most famous legend, and locals still fear it today.
The creature is a shapeshifter that’s kind of like a mix of a werewolf and a vampire that preys upon babies, the weak, and dead bodies. Thus, my goal in illustrating this creature was to capture it mid-transformation as it morphs from a blood-eyed woman into its hunter form. The black tendrils were intended to heighten the effect since otherwise it would have looked like a female werewolf transforming with the exception of the tongue.
