This is the Cherufe. I created this cryptid creature / monster art for Fairytales and Myths.
The Cherufe is a demonic entity in Chilean folklore. It lives in volcanoes.
I had a lot of fun illustrating this volcano monster. The Mapuche tribes used to appease the Cherufe by sacrificing people to volcanoes so i wanted to capture that moment where the poor maiden is staring down the approaching monster.
